Final conference of the PRIMA Nexus-NESS Project to take place in Rome on April 10, 2025
After four years of intense collaboration, research, and innovation, the PRIMA Nexus-NESS project is set to conclude with a final conference in Rome on April 10, 2025. This milestone event will bring together all the project partners who have worked tirelessly to advance sustainable resource management through the WEFE Nexus approach.
Experts, researchers, policymakers, and stakeholders from Spain, Germany, Italy, Tunisia, and Egypt will gather to reflect on the achievements of the project, share key findings, and discuss the long-term impact of the Nexus-NESS initiative. This conference will serve as a unique opportunity to exchange the acquired knowledge, showcase best practices, and explore pathways for future collaboration in tackling pressing environmental and socio-economic challenges.
Over the past four years, Nexus-NESS has played a pioneering role in promoting integrated water, energy, food, and ecosystem (WEFE) management across Mediterranean regions. Through extensive fieldwork, stakeholder engagement, and the development of innovative tools, the project has successfully demonstrated how a Nexus approach can contribute to fair and sustainable resource allocation.
The final event in Rome will feature panel discussions, keynote presentations, and interactive sessions, offering a platform for participants to engage in meaningful dialogue on the lessons learned and the future of WEFE Nexus policies and applications. Representatives from academia, governmental institutions, industry, and civil society will come together to assess the project’s legacy and explore opportunities for scaling up its results beyond the PRIMA framework.
As the Nexus-NESS journey comes to an end, this conference will not only celebrate the achievements of the consortium but also lay the groundwork for new synergies and initiatives aimed at ensuring a resilient and sustainable future for Mediterranean ecosystems and communities.
