NexusArt at 2024 FAO World Food Forum: Online the open call for young artists

NexusArt will showcase artworks by young artists on the first day of the 2024 World Food Forum (WFF) flagship event, from 14-18 October 2024 at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) headquarters in Rome, Italy. The selection process will be performed by NexusArt science-art transdisciplinary team coordinated by the Rome Academy of Fine Arts.

A young artists and scientists co-creation process for addressing food sustainability challenges

Selected artworks will address the 2024 WFF theme “Good food for all, for today and tomorrow”. The preparation and sharing of the scientific themes will be provided by members of the WFF Young Scientists Group (YSG) that will work with young artists in the co-creation and co-installation process.

The call to young artists to participate

  • Young artists are invited to submit relevant artworks matching the exhibition theme.
  • Novel artworks created specifically for the NexusArt exhibition.
  • Eligibility criteria:
    • Artists must be 32 years old or younger, or
    • Demonstrate less than 8 years of artistic experience.
  • Interested artists should fill out the application form.

NexusArt will finance the production and shipping expenses for installing the artwork at the flagship event. More information will be provided to applicants after submitting the participation form.

IMPORTANT DATES

17 September: Hybrid event at ABA Rome with presentation of scientific themes by WFF YSG members

21 September: Deadline to submit the online form.

27 September: ABA Rome (Campo Boario) event presenting the selected young artists and artworks.

14 October: Exhibition of selected artwork(s) at FAO WFF flagship event in Rome.
