A unifying transdisciplinary framework merging engineering, architecture, social sciences and humanities to foster contemporary arts as means to address hydroclimate, ecological and social crises

Humanity is facing unprecedented climate, ecological and cultural crises that are fostering inequalities and gender unbalances undermining social and economic justice. Natural disasters, industrial pressures and rapidly evolving population dynamics are impacting human health and well being. Interlinked climate and energy management strategies have fostered geopolitical tensions with raising wars and migrations.  Safe and sustainable access to water, energy and food, safeguarding environmental resources and cultural heritage, climate change mitigation and adaptation are now top priorities of the international agenda as the most urgent world challenges.

At the same time society has rapidly evolved in the last century being unnaturally accelerated by technological advances that have further pushed urban-industry development and exploitation of natural resources. Hyper-specialization have governed academic, professional and industry development creating barriers and silo effects among policy and economic sectors. Unifying governing strategies of Water, Energy, Food, Ecosystem (WEFE) resources are being tested by experts and community of practitioners. Nevertheless, citizens’ environmental awareness and education campaigns are still failing to permeate society for creating the much needed cultural and behavioural change that is awaited to face the actual world’s crises.

NexusArt aims to value contemporary art as the optimal super partes observation, interpretation means and engage communities and citizens from the global to the local (glocal) scale to unveal problems and implement solutions to the eco-climate crisis.

NexusArt mission is to leverage contemporary art to produce an unifying unbiased framework of collaboration for engineers, architects, economists, sociologists and humanities scholars.

NexusArt engineering-art works are co-conceptualized to foster science-policy-society debates, awareness and augmented understanding of hydroclimate, ecological and social crises while stimulating and infiltrating open human spaces and cultures for sharp mindset changes.
