The Other Side is an installation that examines issues related to food and food waste. Current research and, in particular, research related to rich countries shows that an enormous amount of food is wasted during the processes of production, processing, sale, storage, and consumption. The installation consists of a photo depicting a beautifully set table but no food and a pile of rotting food resting on the ground below the photo. The contrast between the “beauty” of the image, which values only the appearance, and the actual unraveling of food, creates a thought-provoking short circuit on human ineptitude.
